About Us

A Place with Deep Roots

Stover Mill Farm is more than a nursery. It’s our home, our passion, and a place where nature leads the way. We’re grateful to share it with you.

From Mill to Meadow

Stover Mill Farm has been part of Virginia’s landscape for nearly 200 years.

What began as a mill along the stream has witnessed generations of change, yet the land has always endured.

Today, the pastures, meadows, and woodlands continue to shelter an incredible diversity of native plants and wildlife.

We feel honored to be the current stewards of this special place.

Our Story

Barb and Tony moved to Stover Mill Farm in 2013.

From the very first spring, we were amazed by what was already here: peeper frogs calling in the evenings, fireflies lighting up the fields, and native plants we didn’t even know the names of.

Working with the Clifton Institute, we’ve learned to slow down, observe, and appreciate the incredible diversity of life on our property. We’ve found more than 50 species of native plants — and we know there are more.

Native plants aren’t just what we grow, they’re part of how we live. They connect us to the land, support the wildlife we love, and inspire us every day.

The nursery is a natural extension of our journey and an opportunity to share what we’ve learned and help others create healthy, vibrant habitats.

Always Growing

The land is always teaching us. The seasons bring new surprises. Our knowledge grows, our gardens evolve, and so does Stover Mill Farm.

Thank you for being here. We look forward to growing alongside you.
