Some plants don’t need much of an introduction.
Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis) dazzles with brilliant red blooms, while Blue Lobelia (Lobelia siphilitica) shines in rich shades of blue. Both are stunning native wildflowers that thrive in moist soils and bloom just when many other summer flowers are beginning to fade.
Sometimes there’s a lesson to share. Today, I simply wanted to appreciate two of Virginia’s most beautiful native wildflowers.
